No double dipped! What is the rule of Kushikatsu?
The second largest city in Japan is Osaka. There is a lot to see in Osaka, such as a famous amusement park USJ, shopping mall, and local food, that are popular for foreign tourists as well. Many people, who want to try some local foods, are going to Shinsekai where is located at the foot of Tsutenkaku. One of the famous food in Shinsekai is Kushikatsu! Kushikatsu is skewered meat or vegetables, battered and deep fried in oil. Each one is small which means you can order according to how hungry you are.
There is an important rule when eating kushikatsu. It is not to double dipped into the sauce. Normally, in a kushikatsu restaurant, a container of sauce is provided at each table and you have to share it with other customers. Therefore, it is not allowed to be dipped twice for hygienic reasons. Also, it is against the rules to put too many sauce on your food like Takechan did. Some restaurants provide spoons for the sauce, if you want to put a lot of sauce, please just use it. In some restaurants, scoop the sauce by cabbage which is served with dish. It is better to ask the rules of the restaurant if you visit first time.
Incidentally, there are so many different ingredients for kushikatsu, and one restaurant has over 200 different kinds of menus. It is interesting that dessert skewers such as apples, chocolates, etc. it would be fun to eat a variety of ingredients!
